1966 Ford Mustang Convertible
This is an incredible car!! I have the original owner’s manual plus lots of vehicle registration certificates. I will explain this whole procedure in detail soon; but, quick version all Ford parts built at the time of production have a date on them. This car has all of those original date stamps proving all parts are original and built as you see it today. I cannot tell you how rare this is. It even has the original bumper which is also date stamped. I have been in this business for over 45 years and I have never seen that. Hard to believe, but the rear bumper also appears to be original. I even pulled the door panels off the car to check the date codes and the doors are also original rust-free.
It is the same way with any collectable car of significance. If you have all the numbers and codes where they are supposed to be, the car is going to be worth more than a car that has reproduction parts on it. The reproduction parts normally do not fit like they should most of the time. In the future, this originality will only be magnified and make your Mustang worth significantly more than one with reproduction parts.
Any collectable items will have identifying marks. For example, if you are familiar with Colt Single Action Revolvers, they serial numbers in several places. If you do not have one or two of the identifying serial numbers, your Revolver is not worth what another that has all the correct serial numbers.
To say that these cars are hard to find is an understatement. I would like to give you a challenge. When you are looking at other cars, besides ours, ask for pictures of the rocker panels, front fenders, trunk, bumpers and doors. See if those pictures are comparable to the areas of our car. Also, ask for pictures of the underside of the doors so you can see how the weep holes are. Then ask for numerous pictures of the underside of the car. Check the trunk area to make sure it has a spare tire and wheel plus jack and hold-down equipment for the tire. I can’t tell you how many cars I have looked at that do not have these items. If we find a good car and it does not have this equipment, we add it.
One major item I have not mentioned is the engine and carburetor plus some other neat items I will tell you about. The engine has its original tag on it and the carburetor is the original 4100 Autolite Carb that came with the car 50 years ago. It also has the original Carb tag on it. These items are incredibly rare to have. I also found other items that are very rare also. The condenser, starter solenoid and washer motor are original to the car! WOW!! I challenge you to top that on any car you are looking at! I will show you pictures of all these items.
All items work on this car such as the horn, turn signals, brake lights, power top, ORIGINAL RADIO plus more. It runs great and starts just like it should. We have done our normal detailing on the engine, interior and trunk compartment. When you take this baby outside and look at it; it is a jewel! Also, as you will be able to see, the floors are in great shape! One last thing, the steering wheel is original and is in really nice condition.
